"Believing in Jesus"

The Apostle Creed

"I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended to heaven."

Intro

What is Jesus to you? What you believe becomes the foundation of your life. If you believe in God, how you believe in Him will greatly influence your life.

Since last week, we have been looking at the Apostles' Creed. Everyone, please stand (this is not a funeral; it is a confession of hope). What is the Apostles' Creed? It is a "Credo."

"I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth."

It is "I," not "We."

What do we believe? The Creator of heaven and earth, the Almighty Father God. This confession becomes the foundation of our lives. Please try watching it on YouTube.

And the second sentence: "I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord." Today, I want to think about this.

What is Jesus to you?

1. Various ways of "Believing"

• Various ways of "Believing"

It says, "I believe in Jesus Christ," but what does it mean to believe in Jesus? I ask because I think there are many different ways to believe.

Once, Jesus asked his disciples: "Who do the crowds say I am?" Different people were saying different things. They had different ways of believing. Jesus then asked his disciples a vital question:

Matthew 16:15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"

I think this question is also being asked of us today. Many people say many things.

Some might say Jesus is a great figure in history. It is clearly known that Jesus actually existed in history. The Apostles' Creed says he "suffered under Pontius Pilate and was crucified." Pontius Pilate was the Roman governor who ruled the Judean region at that time. Jesus was crucified under this Pilate. This record does not only appear in the Bible. For example, in the Jewish history written by Josephus around 93 AD, it mentions that Jesus was crucified under Governor Pilate. In the annals written by the Roman historian Tacitus around 116 AD, that record also appears. Jesus certainly lived on this earth and certainly went to the cross. But does just knowing that mean you believe in Jesus? The answer is No.

Also, some say Jesus was a great moral teacher. That is how he might be taught in schools. Many people think: "I see, Jesus was such a great person that he came to be worshiped as a god." Does this mean believing in Jesus? The answer is No.

The Apostles' Creed says: "I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord."

This person is the Lord. (Japanese people must be especially careful. This is a culture where people become gods. Even in Chinese culture, Confucius or Guan Yu become gods). If you think about it, it’s a strange idea. People do not become gods. My hamster was great, so when it died, it became a dog. That doesn't happen. My husband was unattractive, but when he died, he became a Korean star—a K-pop idol—and came back. There's no way. A person who can't even become a Korean star cannot become a god. A Daihatsu light car doesn't become a Porsche when it’s scrapped. People don't get a "grade up" just because they died.

Then, who is Jesus? This person was, from the beginning, the true God.

2. What it means to Believe in Jesus

The Apostles' Creed says: "He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary." What does this mean? The eternal God humbled himself and became human. Today, I want you to understand this point well.

I read something interesting in a book recently. Fellow Christians, what kind of figure do you imagine when you pray to Jesus? Do many of you imagine the figure of Jesus as he walked this earth? Do you imagine him as he was on the cross?

But do you know that those were temporary figures?

For example, the figure that appears in Revelation is one shining in glory. This person has existed from the eternal past, will continue to exist eternally, and is a Being shining in glory. We pray to that Person. This Person was there from the beginning.

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Colossians 1:16b-17 All things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

The true God, who is the cause and the purpose of the existence of all things, became human. That is Jesus. Today, I want everyone not just to say "I love Jesus because he’s kind," but to look at the glory of this Jesus.

And this Person came to this earth to bear our sins and to die.

"He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified..."

Yes. He received the punishment for sin on your behalf and for you. How great that suffering was. Some of you may have seen the movie The Passion. It was suffering beyond our imagination.

Even in that suffering, Jesus continued to love us.

In what is now Narita City, Chiba Prefecture, there was a man named Sakura Sogoro. In the early Edo period, to save farmers suffering from heavy taxes, he performed a "direct appeal" (jikiso) to the Shogun. He was a good man. However, he was sentenced to "execution by crucifixion." When he was being executed, he pointed at the officials and lords who tormented him and said, "I will curse you to the last generation." He wasn't a bad person. But this is a normal reaction.

However, Jesus, while on the cross, prayed for the people who insulted him and put him there. "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."

Can a human have such love?

Someone once said this: Looking at Jesus like this, please don't use evasive words like "Jesus was a wonderful moral teacher" or "He was a great figure in history." What if an ordinary person spoke like Jesus, performed miracles, and acted as he did? For example, if he said he and God were one, said he was sent by the Father to help sinners, and went to the cross himself saying it was to save you? You wouldn't think such a person was a great man. Wouldn't you think such a person was out of their mind? If not, only one other option remains. What this person said was true. This Person is truly God.

Jesus asked his disciples: "Who do you say I am?" Peter answered: "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

In the same way, we also confess: "I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord."

3. Believing as Lord

A missionary once told an interesting story. For example, when you go to a polytheistic culture like India where there are many gods, if you say at an evangelistic meeting "Those who believe in Jesus today, come forward," quite a few people come. He thought, "Wow, is my message that good?" But you have to be careful. There is a sense of "I'll believe in Jesus too." "Oh, Jesus is that good? Then I'll believe in him as well." But their way of life remains as before. Nothing changes.

Is that really believing? Probably not.

Believing in everything is the same as believing in nothing. Saying everything is the correct answer is the same as saying there is no correct answer. Japanese people have a similar tendency. "I'll believe in this too. I'll pray here too." Is that your Lord? Not at all. The Lord is always you. The gods are there to be used.

With what kind of heart did the Christians of the early church confess Christ as Lord? As I mentioned last week, the Roman Emperor made himself a god and forced people to call him Lord. Those who did not comply were sometimes killed.

In the midst of that, Christians confessed, "Jesus alone is my Lord." Wasn't that a confession that they seek this Person above all else? More so, wasn't it a confession that they find their own salvation, happiness, and fulfillment in this Person alone?

When you believe in Jesus in that way—when you truly make Jesus the Lord of your life—it is natural for your way of life to change. Because Jesus is my Lord.

It is a change of direction where the center of our existence is no longer ourselves, but a much greater Person.

In the past, the center of my life—and probably yours—was you, and you were desperate to prove your value.

However, when I realized that I am not the Lord of this life, that I am not the center or the purpose, I discovered the joy of living not for myself, but for someone even greater than me. That is why the Bible invites us into such a way of life.

2 Corinthians 5:15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

So I ask you: What is Jesus to you? Is he a helper for living this life better? Is he a lucky charm? Or is he your Lord? We confess him as Lord.

Finally, I want you to remember that this was a confession of hope, and it remains so today.

When we confess Jesus as Lord, these hopes are also included.

First, because this Person is truly God, my sins are completely forgiven.

For God shed His blood for me and bought me. No matter how much those around me or I myself condemn me, my sins are completely forgiven.

And because of that, today we have the hope of heaven. Many people walk without knowing where they are going. They might be trying not to think about it as much as possible. But we know we are walking towards heaven. We know there is meaning even in the hardships we face in this life. We know it is a happy ending. Therefore, there is hope.

And we know that Jesus will return. Since this is an important matter, I would like to talk about it next time.

And I know that my life is protected in His hands today. Today too, Jesus is with us. God fulfills His promise.

I believe. What?

"Our Lord, Jesus Christ," the One who was born on this earth for us and went to the cross.

前言

對你來說，耶穌是什麼？你相信什麼，會成為你人生的根基。

如果你相信上帝，你「如何」相信祂，將大大左右你的人生。

從上週開始，我們在看《使徒信經》。請大家全體起立（這不是葬禮，而是希望的告白）。使徒信經是什麼？是 "Credo"。

「我信上帝，全能的父，創造天地的主。」

是「我」，不是「我們」。

相信什麼？創造天地的主、全能的父神。

這份告白將成為我們人生的根基。請一定要去 YouTube 觀看。

接著是第二句：「我信耶穌基督，上帝的獨生子，我們的主。」今天我想思考這件事。

對你來說，耶穌是什麼？

1. 各種不同的「相信」

• 各種「相信」的方式

雖然說「相信耶穌基督」，但相信耶穌究竟是什麼意思呢？之所以這麼問，是因為我覺得「相信」也有很多不同的方式。

有一次，耶穌問祂的門徒：「眾人說我是誰？」當時人們各說各的，有各種不同的相信方式。接著，耶穌問了門徒一個極其重要的問題：

馬太福音 16:15 耶穌說：「你們說我是誰？」

我想這個問題今天也在問我們。

世人說了許多關於耶穌的話。

有人說耶穌是歷史上的偉人。耶穌確實存在於歷史中，這是眾所周知的。《使徒信經》中提到「在本丟·彼拉多手下受難，被釘在十字架上」。本丟·彼拉多是當時統治猶太地區的羅馬總督。耶穌是在這位彼拉多手下被處以十字架刑的。這不僅僅記錄在聖經中，例如公元 93 年左右，猶太史學家約瑟夫斯在《猶太古史》中也提到耶穌在總督彼拉多手下被處以十字架刑。公元 116 年左右，羅馬史學家塔西佗在《編年史》中也有相關記錄。耶穌確實活在這個地球上，也確實走上了十字架。但僅僅知道這件事，就等於相信耶穌嗎？答案是「不」。

《使徒信經》說：「我信耶穌基督，上帝的獨生子，我們的主。」

這一位是「主」。（日本人必須特別注意。這是一個「人會變成神」的文化。在中國文化中，孔子或關羽也會變成神）。仔細想想，這是很奇怪的想法。人是不會變成神的。我的倉鼠很了不起，所以死後變成了狗——這是不可能的。我的丈夫雖然長得不好看，但死後變成了韓國明星、K-pop 偶像回來了——絕對沒這回事。連韓國明星都變不成的人，是不可能變成神的。大發輕型車報廢後也不會變成保時捷。人並不會只因為死了就「升級」。

那麼，耶穌是誰？這一位從起初就是真正的上帝。

2. 相信耶穌是什麼意思

《使徒信經》說：「因著聖靈感孕，從童貞女馬利亞所生。」這是什麼意思呢？是指永恆的上帝卑微自己，成為了人。今天，我希望大家能深刻理解這一點。

最近我在書裡讀到一件有趣的事。各位基督徒，當你們向耶穌禱告時，腦海中浮現的是什麼樣的形象？很多人是否想像著耶穌走在世上的樣子？或是想像著耶穌在十字架上的樣子？

但你們知道嗎？那些都只是暫時的形象。

例如，在《啟示錄》中出現的耶穌，是充滿榮耀、閃耀光芒的。這一位是從永恆的過去就存在，並將存在到永恆的未來，充滿榮耀的存在。我們是向這一位禱告。這一位從起初就在那裡。

約翰福音 1:1-3 太初有道，道與神同在，道就是神。這道太初與神同在。萬物是藉著他造的；凡被造的，沒有一樣不是藉著他造的。

歌羅西書 1:16b-17 一切都是靠他造的，又是為他造的。他在萬有之先；萬有也靠他而立。

這一位作為萬物存在的起因與目的的真神，成為了人，這就是耶穌。今天，我希望大家不只是說「因為耶穌很溫柔所以喜歡祂」，而是能仰望這位耶穌的榮耀。

而且，這一位來到這世上，是為了背負我們的罪而死。

「因著聖靈感孕，從童貞女馬利亞所生；在本丟·彼拉多手下受難，被釘在十字架上……」

是的。祂代替你、為了你，承受了罪的刑罰。那份痛苦是多麼巨大。可能有人看過電影《受難記》，那是超乎我們想像的苦難。

即使在極度的痛苦中，耶穌依然愛著我們。

在現在的千葉縣成田市，曾有一位名叫佐倉宗五郎的人。在江戶時代初期，為了拯救受重稅之苦的農民，他向將軍「直接訴冤」。他是一個好人，但最終被處以「十字架刑」。據說他在受刑時，指著折磨他的官員和領主說：「我要咒詛你們到子孫萬代。」他不是壞人，但這是正常的反應。

然而，耶穌在十字架上，卻為那些侮辱祂、將祂釘上去的人禱告：「父啊，赦免他們！因為他們所做的，他們不曉得。」

人類能有這樣的愛嗎？

曾有人說：看到這樣的耶穌，請不要再用「耶穌是位了不起的道德導師」或「是歷史偉人」這種閃爍其詞的話了。如果有一個普通人說出耶穌那樣的話、行出神蹟、做出那樣的舉動，會如何呢？例如，說自己與上帝為一，說自己是父差來拯救罪人的，並且為了救你而自己走上十字架。你不會覺得這樣的人是偉人，反而會覺得這個人瘋了吧？如果不是瘋子，那就只剩下一個選項：祂所說的話都是真的。這一位真的是上帝。

耶穌問門徒：「你們說我是誰？」彼得回答：「你是基督，是永生神的兒子。」

同樣地，我們也告白：「我信耶穌基督，上帝的獨生子，我們的主。」

3. 當相信祂為「主」時

一位宣教士曾講過一個有趣的故事。例如在印度等擁有很多神明的多神教文化中，如果在佈道會說「今天相信耶穌的人請到前面來」，會有相當多的人走出來。他一度想：「哇，我的講道這麼有感召力嗎？」但必須注意。那裡有一種「也順便信一下耶穌吧」的感覺。「喔，耶穌這麼好嗎？那我也信信看。」但他們的生活方式依然如故，沒有任何改變。

那是真的「相信」嗎？恐怕不是吧。

什麼都信，就等於什麼都不信。說一切都是正確答案，就等於在說沒有正確答案。日本人也有類似的傾向。「這個也信信看，那邊也拜一下。」這一位是你的「主」嗎？完全不是。主永遠是你自己。神明只是被用來利用的。

初代教會的基督徒是以什麼樣的心情告白基督為「主」的呢？正如我上週所說，羅馬皇帝自稱為神，強制人們稱他為「主」。不服從的人有時會被殺害。

在那樣的環境中，基督徒告白「唯有耶穌是我的主」。這不正是告白自己追求這一位勝過一切嗎？更進一步說，不正是告白唯有在這一位裡面，才能找到自己的救贖、幸福與滿足嗎？

當你以此方式相信耶穌，當耶穌真正成為你人生的主時，生活方式理所當然會改變。

因為耶穌是我的主。

這是一種方向的轉變，我們存在的中心不再是自己，而是變成了那位更偉大的存在。

過去的我，想必你也是，人生的中心是你自己，並為了證明自己的價值而拼命努力。

然而，當我發現這人生的主、這人生的中心與目的並不是我時，我體會到了不為自己、而是為了比自己更偉大的那一位而活的喜悅。所以聖經邀請我們進入這樣的生活方式：

哥林多後書 5:15 並且他替眾人死，是叫那些活著的人不再為自己活，乃為替他們死而復活的主活。

所以我問你：對你來說，耶穌是什麼？是為了讓你的人生過得更好的幫手嗎？是護身符嗎？還是你的「主」？我們告白祂是主。

最後，我希望大家記住，這曾是希望的告白，而今天依然如此。

當我們告白耶穌為主時，這當中也包含了這些希望。

第一，因為這一位是真神，我的罪已被完全赦免。

因為上帝為我流血，將我買贖回來。無論周圍的人如何責難我，甚至我自己如何責難自己，我的罪都已被完全赦免。

正因如此，我們今天擁有了天國的希望。許多人走在路上卻不知道自己要去哪裡，甚至盡量不去思考這件事。但我們知道自己正朝向天國邁進。我們知道即使在今生的苦難中也有意義。我們知道那將是個幸福的結局。所以，這裡有希望。

而且，我們知道耶穌必會再臨。因為這是重要的事，我想下次再談。

我也知道，今天我的生命在祂的手中受到保護。今天耶穌也與我們同在。上帝必會實現祂的應許。

我信。信什麼？

「我們的主，耶穌基督」，這一位為了我們誕生在世上，並走上十字架的那位。

Intro

Ano si Jesus para sa iyo? Kung ano ang pinaniniwalaan mo, 'yun ang magiging foundation ng buhay mo. Kung naniniwala ka sa Diyos, kung paano mo Siya pinaniniwalaan ang magde-determine ng takbo ng buhay mo.

O que é Jesus para você? Aquilo em que você acredita torna-se o alicerce da sua vida. Se você acredita em Deus, a maneira como você acredita n’Ele influenciará muito a sua vida.

Desde a semana passada, estamos estudando o Credo Apostólico. Todos, por favor, fiquem de pé (isto não é um funeral; é uma confissão de esperança). O que é o Credo Apostólico? É um "Credo".

"Creio em Deus Pai, Todo-Poderoso, Criador do céu e da terra."

É "Eu", não "Nós".

O que cremos? No Criador do céu e da terra, o Deus Pai Todo-Poderoso. Esta confissão torna-se o alicerce de nossas vidas. Por favor, assistam ao vídeo no YouTube.

E a segunda frase: "Creio em Jesus Cristo, seu único Filho, nosso Senhor." Hoje, quero pensar sobre isso.

O que é Jesus para você?

1. Várias formas de "Crer"

• Diferentes maneiras de acreditar

Dizemos "Creio em Jesus Cristo", mas o que significa crer em Jesus? Pergunto isso porque acho que existem muitas maneiras diferentes de acreditar.

Certa vez, Jesus perguntou aos seus discípulos: "Quem as multidões dizem que eu sou?". Cada pessoa dizia algo diferente. Elas tinham diferentes formas de acreditar. Então, Jesus fez aos seus discípulos uma pergunta vital:

Mateus 16:15 "E vocês?", perguntou ele. "Quem vocês dizem que eu sou?"

Acredito que esta pergunta também nos é feita hoje. Muitas pessoas dizem muitas coisas.

Alguns podem dizer que Jesus é uma grande figura histórica. Sabe-se claramente que Jesus existiu de fato na história. O Credo Apostólico diz que ele "padeceu sob o poder de Pôncio Pilatos e foi crucificado". Pôncio Pilatos foi o governador romano que governou a região da Judeia naquela época. Jesus foi crucificado sob este Pilatos. Este registro não aparece apenas na Bíblia. Por exemplo, em "Antiguidades Judaicas", escrito pelo historiador judeu Josefo por volta de 93 d.C., menciona-se que Jesus foi crucificado sob o governador Pilatos. Nos "Anais", escritos pelo historiador romano Tácito por volta de 116 d.C., esse registro também aparece. Jesus certamente viveu nesta terra e certamente foi para a cruz. Mas será que apenas saber disso significa que você crê em Jesus? A resposta é Não.

Além disso, alguns dizem que Jesus foi um grande mestre moral. É assim que ele pode ser ensinado nas escolas. Muitas pessoas pensam: "Entendo, Jesus foi uma pessoa tão maravilhosa que passou a ser adorado como um deus". Isso significa crer em Jesus? A resposta é Não.

O Credo Apostólico diz: "Creio em Jesus Cristo, seu único Filho, nosso Senhor."

Esta pessoa é o Senhor. (Os japoneses devem ter um cuidado especial. Esta é uma cultura onde as pessoas se tornam deuses. Mesmo na cultura chinesa, Confúcio ou Guan Yu tornam-se deuses). Se você parar para pensar, é uma ideia estranha. Pessoas não se tornam deuses. Meu hamster era ótimo, então, quando morreu, tornou-se um cachorro — isso não acontece. Meu marido não era bonito, mas quando morreu, tornou-se um astro coreano — um ídolo do K-pop — e voltou — de jeito nenhum. Uma pessoa que não consegue sequer se tornar um astro coreano não pode se tornar um deus. Um carro popular não se torna um Porsche quando vai para o ferro-velho. As pessoas não recebem um "upgrade" só porque morreram.

Então, quem é Jesus? Esta pessoa era, desde o princípio, o verdadeiro Deus.

2. O que significa Crer em Jesus

O Credo Apostólico diz: "Foi concebido por obra do Espírito Santo e nasceu da virgem Maria." O que isso significa? Significa que o Deus eterno humilhou-se e tornou-se humano. Hoje, quero que vocês entendam bem este ponto.

Li algo interessante em um livro recentemente. Irmãos cristãos, que tipo de figura vocês imaginam quando oram a Jesus? Muitos de vocês imaginam a figura de Jesus enquanto ele caminhava nesta terra? Imaginam-no como ele estava na cruz?

Mas vocês sabem que aquelas eram figuras temporárias?

Por exemplo, a figura que aparece no Apocalipse é de alguém brilhando em glória. Esta pessoa existiu desde o passado eterno, continuará existindo eternamente e é um Ser resplandecente em glória. Oramos a essa Pessoa. Esta Pessoa estava lá desde o princípio.

João 1:1-3 "No princípio era aquele que é a Palavra. Ele estava com Deus e era Deus. Ele estava com Deus no princípio. Todas as coisas foram feitas por intermédio dele; sem ele, nada do que existe teria sido feito."

Colossenses 1:16b-17 "Tudo foi criado por meio dele e para ele. Ele é antes de todas as coisas, e nele tudo subsiste."

O verdadeiro Deus, que é a causa e o propósito da existência de todas as coisas, tornou-se humano. Esse é Jesus. Hoje, quero que todos não apenas digam "eu amo Jesus porque ele é bondoso", mas que olhem para a glória deste Jesus.

E esta Pessoa veio a esta terra para carregar nossos pecados e morrer.

"Foi concebido pelo Espírito Santo... padeceu sob Pôncio Pilatos, foi crucificado..."

Sim. Ele recebeu a punição pelo pecado em seu lugar e por você. Quão grande foi esse sofrimento. Alguns de vocês podem ter visto o filme A Paixão. Foi um sofrimento além da nossa imaginação.

Mesmo nesse sofrimento, Jesus continuou a nos amar.

Onde hoje é a cidade de Narita, na província de Chiba, viveu um homem chamado Sakura Sogoro. No início do período Edo, para salvar os agricultores que sofriam com impostos pesados, ele fez um apelo direto ao Shogun. Ele era um homem bom. No entanto, foi condenado à "execução por crucificação". Dizem que, enquanto era executado, ele apontou para os oficiais e senhores que o atormentavam e disse: "Eu os amaldiçoarei até a última geração." Ele não era uma pessoa má, mas essa é uma reação normal.

No entanto, Jesus, enquanto estava na cruz, orou pelas pessoas que o insultavam e o colocaram lá. "Pai, perdoa-lhes, pois não sabem o que fazem."

Pode um ser humano ter tal amor?

Alguém disse certa vez: Olhando para Jesus assim, por favor, não use palavras evasivas como "Jesus foi um mestre moral maravilhoso" ou "Ele foi uma grande figura histórica". E se uma pessoa comum falasse como Jesus, fizesse milagres e agisse como ele agiu? Por exemplo, se dissesse que ele e Deus eram um, dissesse que foi enviado pelo Pai para ajudar os pecadores e fosse ele mesmo para a cruz dizendo que era para salvar você? Você não pensaria que tal pessoa era um grande homem. Você pensaria que essa pessoa estava fora de si, não é? Se não, resta apenas uma outra opção. O que essa pessoa disse era verdade. Esta Pessoa é verdadeiramente Deus.

Jesus perguntou aos seus discípulos: "Quem vocês dizem que eu sou?". Pedro respondeu: "Tu és o Cristo, o Filho do Deus vivo."

Da mesma forma, nós também confessamos: "Creio em Jesus Cristo, seu único Filho, nosso Senhor."

3. Ao Crer como Senhor

Um missionário contou certa vez uma história interessante. Por exemplo, quando você vai a uma cultura politeísta como a da Índia, onde existem muitos deuses, se você disser em uma reunião de evangelização "Aqueles que creem em Jesus hoje, venham à frente", muitas pessoas virão. Ele pensou: "Uau, minha mensagem é tão boa assim?". Mas é preciso ter cuidado. Existe um sentimento de "vou acreditar em Jesus também". "Ah, Jesus é tão bom assim? Então vou acreditar nele também". Mas o modo de vida deles permanece como antes. Nada muda.

Isso é realmente crer? Provavelmente não.

Crer em tudo é o mesmo que não crer em nada. Dizer que tudo é a resposta correta é o mesmo que dizer que não existe resposta correta. Os japoneses têm uma tendência semelhante. "Vou acreditar nisso também. Vou orar aqui também." Essa pessoa é o seu Senhor? De jeito nenhum. O Senhor é sempre você. Os deuses estão lá para serem usados.

Com que tipo de coração os cristãos da igreja primitiva confessavam Cristo como Senhor? Como mencionei na semana passada, o imperador romano fez de si mesmo um deus e forçou as pessoas a chamá-lo de Senhor. Aqueles que não obedeciam eram, por vezes, mortos.

No meio disso, os cristãos confessavam: "Somente Jesus é o meu Senhor". Não era essa uma confissão de que eles buscam essa Pessoa acima de qualquer outra coisa? Mais ainda, não era uma confissão de que encontram sua própria salvação, felicidade e plenitude somente nesta Pessoa?

Quando você crê em Jesus dessa forma — quando você realmente faz de Jesus o Senhor da sua vida — é natural que seu modo de viver mude. Porque Jesus é o meu Senhor.

É uma mudança de direção onde o centro da nossa existência não somos mais nós mesmos, mas uma Pessoa muito maior.

No passado, o centro da minha vida — e provavelmente da sua — era você, e você estava desesperado para provar o seu valor.

No entanto, quando percebi que não sou o Senhor desta vida, que não sou o centro nem o propósito, descobri a alegria de viver não para mim, mas para alguém ainda maior do que eu. É por isso que a Bíblia nos convida a tal estilo de vida.

2 Coríntios 5:15 "E ele morreu por todos, para que os que vivem não vivam mais para si mesmos, mas para aquele que por eles morreu e ressuscitou."

Então, eu pergunto a você: O que é Jesus para você? Ele é um ajudante para viver esta vida melhor? Ele é um amuleto da sorte? Ou ele é o seu Senhor? Nós o confessamos como Senhor.

Finalmente, quero que vocês se lembrem de que esta era uma confissão de esperança, e continua sendo hoje.

Quando confessamos Jesus como Senhor, estas esperanças também estão incluídas.

Primeiro, porque esta Pessoa é verdadeiramente Deus, meus pecados estão completamente perdoados.

Pois Deus derramou seu sangue por mim e me resgatou. Não importa o quanto os que estão ao meu redor ou eu mesmo me condenem, meus pecados estão completamente perdoados.

E, por causa disso, hoje temos a esperança do céu. Muitas pessoas caminham sem saber para onde estão indo. Elas podem estar tentando não pensar nisso o máximo possível. Mas nós sabemos que estamos caminhando para o céu. Sabemos que há sentido até mesmo nas dificuldades que enfrentamos nesta vida. Sabemos que é um final feliz. Portanto, há esperança.

E sabemos que Jesus voltará. Como este é um assunto importante, gostaria de falar sobre isso na próxima vez.

E sei que minha vida está protegida em Suas mãos hoje. Hoje também, Jesus está conosco. Deus cumpre sua promessa.

Eu creio. No quê?

"Em nosso Senhor, Jesus Cristo", aquele que nasceu nesta terra por nós e foi para a cruz.
